Cancel Chris Brown Concerts, Demand South African Activists

South African women's rights activists have started a petition to stop controversial U.S. singer Chris Brown from performing in December. The advocacy group Women For Change is calling on the government and concert promoters to reconsider allowing the artist to perform.

The petition also asks the Department of Home Affairs to revoke Brown's visa and block his entry into the country.

Activists said Brown's concert is an insult to the millions of women and girls affected by gender-based violence, especially as it is scheduled shortly after the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

Brown's tickets sold out within hours, and a second concert date was added.

Over 26,000 people have signed the petition opposing his performances.
