South Africa's Tyla Takes Triple Crown at MTV Europe Music Awards
South African singer Tyla won three awards - Best Afrobeat, Best African Act, and Best R&B - at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
She is the first African artist to win three MTV EMA awards on the same night. Tyla wore a replica of the Roberto Cavalli dress Aaliyah wore to the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards as a tribute to the late singer.
In July, Tyla won the Best New Artist award at the BET Awards 2024, beating Ayra Starr and Asake.
