Kenya MPs Discuss State of Economy, Burgeoning Youths

Members of Kenya's National Assembly convene at a special retreat to discuss the state of the economy and "explore strategies to tackle the challenges posed by the growing youth population". The meeting, attended by President William Ruto, will also examine the implementation of the Social Health Insurance Fund, intended to provide health coverage to Kenyans.

After nationwide protests in 2024 - led by young people - over the proposed government legislation to increase taxes, Ruto has been criticized for this and dozens of subsequent abductions of government critics.
