Trump's Aids Funding Decision Threatens Progress Made in Africa

South Africa's Pepfar-funded HIV organisations are among the first to receive official notification that the Donald Trump administration has ended their USAID-administered funding -- permanently.

Bhekisisa's Mia Malan reports that some South African organisations said Pepfar-funded projects in Kenya and Malawi had received similar letters. Some organisations received emails, with attached letters, which were signed off with ''thank you for partnering with USAID and God Bless America.''

The Premium Times reports that the cuts on the continent are part of the Trump administration to slash USAID's foreign assistance budget by 92%, thus significantly reducing the agency's ability to support development efforts in countries like Nigeria.
